At Reapra, we take a fundamentally distinct approach to building businesses compared to traditional venture capital firms. Here’s how we stand apart:

  1. Long Term Vision: Unlike traditional VCs that operate within 5-7 year fund cycles, we think long-term—10 to 30 years—allowing us to focus on sustainable growth rather than short-term exits.
  2. Portfolio Targets: We prioritize solving complex, long-term problems, even if they’re "boring" by conventional standards. While VCs chase sexy, disruptive ideas, we build resilient systems and future industries through multiple products or services.
  3. Growth Approach: Reapra emphasizes deliberate growth, bootstrapping, and financial sustainability over hypergrowth and funding cycles. Our goal is to create enduring value, not just highly valued companies.
  4. Assessment Order: At Reapra, we begin with the founder first, then identify the future industry, followed by investment, and only then focus on the product or idea. [Traditional VCs start with the product or idea, then evaluate the founder, and finally decide on investment.]
  5. Organizational Shape: Reapra is a learning organization where every employee is treated as a founder. There are no titles or CXOs—just a shared mission to build something meaningful for the long haul. [VCs operate with hierarchical structures (Partners, Associates, GPs, LPs).]

2.0 Intensive Foundation Design (IFD)

The Intensive Foundation Design (IFD) program is a mandatory discernment process that all founders and applicants seeking investment from Reapra have to go through before investment. It is a deeper discourse and reflection on your personal background that goes beyond careers and entrepreneurship (e.g. childhood and personal history), before being tied back to what is critical for you in your career decisions and shaping your future business.

Reapra’s approach in building future industries is very unusual in its learning methods and defining the social problems we want our founders to address. Due to the long-term vision of our companies, the way we see founders starting, operating, and growing their businesses looks very different from current notions of entrepreneurship and employment.

2.1 Aim of IFD
